Adding new locations

Adding new locations is simple with Smart Speed Sign

We've made it simple to add new locations. Firstly, go to the config.lua file and enable developerMode in the main section at the very top.

Next, head in-game. You'll notice that blips around the map have been enabled (tennis rackets) showing you where all the current signs are located. This may assist you to plan where you want to add new signs, ensuring they are all spread out.

Next, head to the location where you want to add your first sign.

Run the /newspeedsign command

After running the /newspeedsign command, a speed sign prop will appear in front of you. You should then have on-screen prompts in the bottom hand right side of your screen advising you on how to move the sign around, but if not, these are the keys:

Page Up / Page Down - moving the sign up and down

Arrow Up / Arrow Down - moving the sign forwards and backwards

Arrow Left / Arrow Right - moving the sign left and right

B and N - rotate the sign left or right

Press ENTER

Once you are happy with the positioning of the sign, press ENTER to confirm it.

You will then have an input box on the screen looking like this, asking you to enter the current speed limit for this road, with the default being 30:

Once you have entered the speed limit, submit it by pressing ENTER. This will then automatically add the new sign to the locations.json file, meaning no manual copying and pasting.

This will save you a lot of time and allow you to add many more locations. All you'll need to do next is to restart the resource/server to allow the new locations.json file to sync to your players.
